Have you ever stared at a clock and wondered why time passes so slowly?
Tick-tack tick-tack tick-tack tick-tack tick-tack
I’m pretty sure everyone knows these moments. It’s gray outside. The world seems weird, not real. It’s awful still, there’s only you.
You, your racing thoughts and the ticking of the clock. The clock, which never stops but never appears to be in a hurry either. You are waiting for someone. Not just any person. This person. Your favorite person, that makes you finally forget about time. Makes your heart beat faster.
You still wait and count the seconds. The minutes. The hours until you finally meet again. Waiting for someone important like this is a strange feeling, isn’t it? It’s kind of an exciting, but also painful experience. You already imagine how it’s going to be. What it feels like to be hugged by this person. You two haven’t seen each other for too long.
Finally, the moment has come. You are reunited again. And suddenly time isn’t important anymore. None of you ever look at the clock. You laugh together like you used to do, and you’re the happiest you’ve ever been. There’s just the two of you. The world is colorful and bright and everything seems perfect. You had so much fun together that you almost forgot about time. When you finally glance at your clock, the time to say goodbye again has come. It almost seemed like time had been running away. The hours passed by as if you had just hugged each other five minutes ago for the first time again at your door.
Later that night, you lie in bed and think about the clock again. Hear that urging ticking. You’re reminded that time never stands still. Many things remain in life, but not time. Never. But if you think so, time gives life its value. If you spend your days watching the clock and counting every damn second of the day, waiting for something to happen…. Will you regret all of this waiting later? Moments are only precious through time. Memories and moments are what remain in life. Time offers you the opportunity to do something with your life, to experience, to learn. To explore the world and yourself. If you are having great moments, time will run out. If you wait, if you’re bored, then you’d wish time would flow. So time will never be enough and never too short. But think about those moments where you’re happy. Time doesn’t exist in these places of pure happiness.
Suddenly you don’t want to waste one more minute of your life. You want to get outside and watch the stars just existing. You perceive every single detail around you and feel every single emotion and cell of your body. Take a deep breath. You realize how beautiful the power of the moment is.
As the days pass by, you enjoy and live everything that you do. Not just the happy and not just the sad things that happen to you. Nobody will ever fully understand time, but you finally start getting comfortable with the ticking of the clock.
This is your reminder to enjoy every second of your life.
