‚Beauty defines possibilities’
People are so quick to call someone out and block them off, without even really knowing what is going on or if it was right or not. And it is suffocating. Imagine hating somebody just because you watched a 10 second video of them and you did not like how they were looking into the camera.
The two kinds of people who get away with almost everything are the physically attractive ones and the physically wealthy ones.
It is the way it is. And if anybody tells you it is the personality that counts, yeah, but your physical appearance is definitely the first thing that can help you to get away with things compared to people who are not in the category of society’s beauty standard.
It is scary how early it started for me to notice the indifference that happens to people based on their appearance.
By the age of five, I was completely aware that I would not fit into the European beauty standards with my south east Asian genes. Not only being bullied by Caucasian children but also Asian children too. They would compare their nose to mine. ‘Mine is not as flat as yours, I have never seen someone with a nose as flat as yours.’ Crazy. Terrifying. People really try to make you feel worthless as long as they can feel better about themselves.
Preteen girls are the most scary. Or preteens overall. Not a kid and not an adult, constantly trying to prove to others that they are already grown-up.
Already talking about horny stuff, and boyfriends/girlfriends, drooling over men and women twice their age. How do you go from ‘I like horses and colorful bracelets’ to ‘Zac Efron and Megan Fox Body Talks’ in a year?
I was even surprised to hear about people that already had boyfriends or girlfriends in elementary school. But like the norm, I wanted to fit in. Talking about 17-year-old boys while I was merely 11 years old. I find it so upsetting nowadays.
Hearing girls say ‘but only the older guys are attractive’.
You are 13 and he is 25. I get the yuckies nowadays.
I was just a kid. They are just kids.
It is also scary how open society is to these topics. You have baby clothes for girls with prints like ‘Daddy says no Boyfriend’ – it is just a baby. Who will this infant want to date? And all those ‘teen’ magazines. ‘This is just fun, you are taking it too seriously, such a party pooper.’ Everybody, do what you like as long as it does not harm anyone physically or mentally, but do you understand where I am getting? They are merely children. Children grow up so soon nowadays. Barely ten years old and they already want to be teens. And almost everyone supports it. It is cool to be mature at a young age. You are different. You are really getting it.
No.
Let children be children and stop exploiting them.
