They were cooking together, a ritual they had gotten into over the last few days, when Stef’s voice pulled Claire out of her thoughts: âClaire? Are you ok?â, Stef stood directly in front of Claire now. She hadn’t even noticed her moving away from her spot by the sink.
Claire lifted her eyes from the plate she had been drying: âYeah. Why do you ask?â
âYou have been drying that plate for minutes now. You know, you can talk to me, if there is something bothering you, right?â, StefÂŽs gaze drilled into Claire.
She stopped and put the things she was holding down before she turned to face Stef: âYou know what?! I realized one thing during the last weeks. Live is too short to not live it to its fullest. Every single day.â
Stef nodded, but Claire could see that she didn’t know where she was going with this. Claire took another step forward until she was nose to nose with Stef, then whispered: âItÂŽs too short to not do thisâŠâShe leaned towards Stef and kissed her. It was meant to be a short peak but when their mouths touched a tingle went through ClaireÂŽs whole body. She pulled Stef closer by her waist and buried her other hand in her hair.
It took a second for her to realize that Stef wasn’t kissing her back. She pulled back immediately: âOh. My god. I am so sorry. I thought you wanted this too. I really amâŠâ StefÂŽs lips crashing onto hers stopped her from rambling on. This time it was Stef who pulled them closer together. A moan escaped Claire as she felt StefÂŽs tong tipping against her lips. She opened her mouth without thinking. Stef tasted kind of sweet, but she couldnÂŽt narrow it down to a particular flavor.
When they broke apart, they were both breathing heavily. Soft laughter bubbled up in Claire, and she kissed Stef again, short this time. Stef grinned wildly: âI wanted to do this for so long.â
âWhy didn’t you?â, Claire asked. Stef shrugged: âI don’t know. I didn’t want to make things weird between us, I guess. In case that you didn’t like me that way.â
âWell⊠Just in case this wasn’t clue enough for you. I definitely like you that way.â, Claire said. Stef tone was taunting, and she pulled Claire close again: âAre you sure? I am still not completely convinced. Maybe you can show me?â
Claire felt her heartbeat pick up as she felt StefÂŽs gaze roaming over her. This was a challenge to her liking. Another step forward pushed Stef against the counter. She placed a soft kiss on StefÂŽs throat and mumbled against her skin: âOh. I will show you exactly how I feel about you.â It was a promise. StefÂŽs body trembled as an answer.
