Finally I can take a shower,“ said I, to myself as I opened the door to my AirBnB in Rome. I would rather sleep for 48 hours straight now, because the journey from Naples in 40 degree temperatures, had been a bit exhausting. My plans for the evening were still unclear, but one thing was certain: I urgently needed a shower. When I came out, someone knocked on my door .It was the owner of the AirBnB, Rosa and she brought me an Italian cake and another carafe of water. After inhaling the cake, I ate my provisions from the trip. So what now? At the same time, I got ready, almost instinctively.Meanwhile, I texted my best friend and she motivated me ,to make something of the evening, because how often do you get to Rome? She was right. So I booked myself a slot for a bar hopping tour for 9pm , around 7:30pm. There were two guides to choose from, Alessandro and Gabriella. I opted for Gabriella and packed my things in my bag. Finally, I took the metro and set off, true to the motto: a plan goes off ,without a plan. Gabriella called me in the metro and told me,that the tour would be led by Ale today, as she was still in Lebanon. I could decide ,whether to go on the tour or to get the money, but luckily I decided in favor of the tour. I walked along the Spanish steps in search of the bar. Once arrived, I was one of the first to get my free beer. I was standing at the bar ,when a woran noticed me and we started talking. Her name was Tracy ,she was from Chicago and currently traveling through Europe. While we were talking, a girl came up to us, Kirsten from Miami. We got on well and I taught the two Americans beer pong. The evening took it’s way and we all had a good time, among all the people there was also a German from Berlin. At one point Ale came up to me and asked me, if I wanted to join in, without knowing what it was about, I said yes. Finally, a bell rang and the bar went quiet. A drinking competition was about to begin. My opponent, an Asian girl from America, as a Russian-German woman , I could only win.The bell rang and I drank that beer, like my life depended on it. The girls cheered me on and I won. She insisted on having another go ,but she clearly lost. The girls and I celebrated with our free drinks and went from bar to bar ,until we went out on our own . We met a group of four Italiens and we asked them ,about good clubs and ended up in a karaoke bar. One of the four guys asked me, for my favorite place in Rome, but since it were my first few hours in the city, I didn’t had one. He was horrified, that I hadn’t seen the Trevi Fountain yet ,so we went there together and it was worth it. The Trevi Fountain is magical, especially at 4am, because there are no people around. As it was a wishing well, we did what we had to do. After we made our wishes and took some pictures, we went back to the bar ,where the boys met a friend. There was a lot of laughter, but it was very late and we all wanted to go home , so we shared an Uber. If I didn’t listened to my best friend, I would have never met the girls. My days in Rome might have been very different.
