Credits are used for the next steps in your book project.
They are used only for clearly defined book steps, such as additional research, manuscript creation, or revising individual chapters.
For many book projects, the outline and manuscript together require credits equivalent to approximately €50 to €150.
Printing, additional copies, and optional retail publication are charged separately.

You may use your book exclusively for yourself or your team, or make it available through retail distribution with an ISBN.
With an ISBN, your book can be ordered online and through bookstores.
Publication in retail is optional and only relevant if you intend to actively distribute your book.
For retail sales, you receive royalties. Royalties are settled twice per year. Royalties become available from the 11th retail copy sold. The starting royalty rate is 10% of the retail price (currently €1.80 per copy) and increases at higher sales volumes.
Many books created with story.one are used directly — for example in personal conversations, lectures, or organizations — regardless of whether they are available through retail distribution.

What can I do at no cost?
You can create an account, prepare a book project and collect material. To get started, you receive 200 Starter Credits. These cover your first Outline at no cost. Costs only arise when you choose additional book steps – such as Deep Research, creating the full Manuscript or printing your book.
What are credits?
Credits are used for defined book steps, such as outline, additional research, manuscript or regenerating chapters. Before each paid step, you see the credit requirement.
Which credit packages are available?
Currently, the usual packages are 1,000 credits for €50, 2,200 credits for €100 and 5,000 credits for €200. The price shown in the purchase process is binding.
How many credits does a typical book project require?
A typical flow without additional research currently requires about 800 credits: 200 credits for the outline and 600 credits for the manuscript. With in-depth topic research, the typical flow currently requires about 1,000 credits.
Is there a recurring fee?
No. story.one has no recurring fee. You pay only for the concrete steps or orders you choose.
What does printing cost?
Printing costs depend on quantity, delivery country and options. Single copies are possible; larger quantities usually lower the unit price.
Do I receive royalties?
Yes, for books with ISBN sold through retail. Royalties start from the 11th retail copy sold; author copies do not count. The current tiers are 10%, 12% and 16% of the gross retail price depending on sales volume.
