Verse 1

It was a full moon.
It was a clear night back in June.
And it was called
the Strawberry Moon.
Do you remember the scent?
The scent of the majestic sea?
A vampire drinking red wine
at the corner,
right beneath the cherry tree.
There were no cars,
no bikes, just us.
It was just us
and our heart’s desire.

Verse 2

Later that night,
we went to a place
where we could meet my old friend.
“Dear Luna,” I said
and she welcomed us back.
So we were chanting barefoot
at the edge of the town,
wine running through our veins,
wine as red as my gown.
The sea, the sea –
it’s always the sea,
deep as your soul.
And when I looked at you,
I wondered:

How beautiful
can a human possibly be?

Verse 3

After a while,
we wrote our desires down
on a purple paper sheet:
secrets and wishes,
voices and whispers.
Was it ghosts,
the vampire,
or was it the fishes
in the majestic sea of this mystical town?
It was our heart’s desire
we had to drown.

The one thing
you will never know:
my greatest wish
was to never let you go.

But I lost you –
and now you’re gone.

And the memories of us
laughing, chanting,
praying to
the Strawberry Moon
for love and diamonds,
soulmates
and never-ending youth
found their grave
at the bottom of the sea.

And it hurts so much
to think about you
in this silent moment of truth.
