Chapter 2: Mission Briefing

Story

The team gathered in the dimly lit briefing room, their eyes focused on the holographic display at the center of the table.

A map of the city flickered in the air, showing various points of interest, military installations, and the target zone.

The mission was clear: infiltrate a heavily fortified warehouse, retrieve a set of documents, and eliminate any threats. Simple enough for the Phantom Unit.

Kai, the team leader, spoke first, his voice calm but commanding. “We go in, we get the intel, and we get out. Clean, fast, and efficient. Miller, you’re on overwatch with Simon. Nick, Josh, you’re with me on the ground.”

Miller’s jaw tightened at the mention of Simon’s name.

She shot him a look, but he didn’t return it.

He was already checking his gear, pretending not to notice.

The air was thick with unspoken words, and it made the rest of the team uncomfortable.

Nick, ever the optimist, cracked a joke. “Hope you two don’t kill each other before we get the mission done.” He was met with a few chuckles, but Simon and Miller remained silent.

“We’ve been through worse,” Josh added with a grin. “But let’s get it done. No time for games.”

The mission was critical. The documents they were after contained vital information about enemy operations.

If the Phantom Unit failed, it could lead to catastrophic consequences. They had no room for failure.
