Chapter 3: Discovering my passion

Concurrently, I turned to tarot. During many days staying indoors, everyone’s mental condition has been on the decline, so tarot videos on YouTube providing support have become essential. I also got messages I needed and was searching for, and it really helped. I heard many videos from a tarot reader. She shared wise words, understood my situation and made me feel pretty awesome – something I’d never heard from anyone else. It was during this period that I discovered my passion for psychology.

On a summer day, sunlight shone on the bed where I was lying and my mother was sitting next to me working. I let my thoughts drift. Suddenly, I realized that what I always do without getting tired was analyzing people’s psychology. I have always been interested in psychology without even realizing it.

For me, mental health has always been very important. I always look for ways to solve my own and other people’s mental problems. What I am especially interested in is the relationship between everyone in the family. How they influence each other across generations. Not only in my family, but also from observations from other people’s families.

My mother is a teacher. She has many years of experience being responsible for many groups of special students. Most of them are children with special circumstances. For example, their parents divorced, so they have to live with grandparents or relatives. Mostly because, without the care of their parents, they will show inappropriate behavior and even become addicted from a very young age.

This discovery of myself made me very happy. This is truly an important discovery in my life. I started thinking about my decision to study psychology. Not only that, I made a bolder decision. Study abroad.

Why is this a crazy decision? Because at that time, my family’s main income came from my mother. My father passed away when I was in 12th grade. My mom’s salary was just enough to make ends meet. There was no surplus for me to study abroad. As you know, studying abroad requires a huge amount of money.

Through tarot, I knew this was the right decision. But I understood that I would face huge challenges if I chose this path. And I’m not wrong.
