Trans-PRK is a state-of-the-art, gentle, and safe treatment method that can correct visual impairments such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism – and it does so in a very special way: It is completely touch-free, as only a precise laser is used. No incisions are made, and the eye is not touched mechanically, making the treatment particularly gentle.**
**How does Trans-PRK work?**
1. **Preparation of the Eye:** At the beginning of the treatment, you will receive numbing eye drops. These ensure that you feel no pain during the entire procedure, allowing you to remain completely relaxed.
2. **The Laser Treatment:** A specially developed laser gently and precisely removes the top layer of the cornea, called the epithelium. Then, the underlying corneal tissue is reshaped to correct your individual visual impairment. And all of this happens completely without contact!
3. **Protection and Healing:** After the laser treatment, a soft contact lens is placed on your eye. This lens acts like a protective bandage and shields the cornea.
**What are the advantages of Trans-PRK?**
– **Touch-free and gentle:** There are no incisions and no mechanical instruments. This makes the treatment especially gentle.
– **Suitable for many:** Especially for patients with thin corneas or dry eyes, Trans-PRK is often an ideal solution when other procedures like LASIK are not suitable.
– **Long-term stability:** Since no corneal flap (as with LASIK) is created, there is no risk of flap complications. Your cornea remains stable.
– **Safe results:** Trans-PRK is a proven method that allows for a significant long-term improvement in your vision.
**This method is suitable for:**
– People with nearsightedness and astigmatism.
– Patients with thin corneas for whom other laser methods are not suitable.
– Individuals aged 18 and older whose glasses or contact lens prescriptions have not changed in the past 12 months.
**The Healing Phase – Patience Pays Off!**
After the treatment, your eye needs some time to regenerate. Within a few weeks, your vision will improve significantly – and the result will be sustainably stable. During this healing period, you will be closely monitored by your eye care team.
**This information does not replace a thorough consultation with your doctor.**
