10 years ago, Kingdom of Thunder
King Ezreil was betrayed by his spouse. She loved someone else, a weak and too lovely man from Kingdom of Stars. The King hates treachery and there is always a price to betray the King of Thunder. That day Ezreilâs informant came by. âMy King, Lady Larissa gave this man from Bright Court her heart. They live in the Bright Court and are married. She bore him a child, Your Highness.â said the informant, while he bent his head down, not daring looking in the Kingâs eyes. The King felt an old anger in his chest. âSend the warriors to Lady Larissa and this man of hers, I want them dead. This is her price for treachery. And send the potion master to meâ, demanded the King. âVery well, my Kingâ His informant bowed and left the Kingâs throne room. Ezreil closed his eyes in exhaustion. His anger though was driving his every action, and no one wants to encounter a furious monarch because his illusion of power could lead to ruination. No one would dare to stand in his way.
The King was sitting in the Banquet Hall with trading routes and maps all over the table. His counsellor at his right side as a guard knocked at the door and entered quietly âYour Highness, the potion master is here like you wishedâ and with a subtle wave the King allowed the potion master to come in. âYou summoned me here, my king?â asked the potion master. âYes, indeed, I want you to make a deadly poison as painful as possible for a child.â The King confirmed. âOf course, I will make it, itâll be a pleasure, but, my king, children are immune against all poisons I can make, Your Highness. We must wait until the child is older, Your Highness.â The poisoner said staring at the blue zigzag patterned floor. âGood, I will arrange thatâ, said Ezreil. He sent him out with a little hand movement. Why do I make such big arrangements only for Larissa? The King asked himself and thought very long about it. Vengeance some might call it, he only felt lingering anger that might made him not think at all.
âThey are dead, my King, like you wanted.â The warriors reported, just one day after he sent them to the Kingdom of Stars. He nodded and sent them out of his throne room. Ezreil closed his eyes and saw his beautiful Larissa laughing with him at their secret place under the amber sky with ivy all around them; he hasnât been there for so long; he mourned. She was supposed to be his, his queen, his everything. Now everything was gone. A painful memory, she was so beautiful wearing the navy dress he gave her that looked like the sky, her blue eyes and her soft and feathery brown hair. That always felt so wonderful and soft. He felt a new anger, because it was their fault she had to die, the man she loved and her son she loved, they stole her. Vengeance will be written all over the world. Ezreilâs indescribable grief was because he loved, he loved too intensely and too much. A mistake he wonât ever do again because possessing power and feeling emotions is a curse he realised.
