Ever thought about the possibility of alternate versions of ourselves living in parallel realities? Our team of five had been tasked with protecting the multiverse from rogue agents who sought to exploit its infinite possibilities. But our leader, a brilliant scientist, was unhealthily obsessed with the concept of parallel worlds. He spent years developing a machine that could tap into this hidden realm, and finally, he did it. The device could open portals to the parallel universe. The parallel reality wasn’t a mirror image of our own, but rather a twisted reflection. Our scientist had a counterpart in this world, one who’d also created the same device with far different intentions. He was driven by a lust for power, a desire to enslave every possible universe and bend reality to his will. Not out of some warped sense of altruism, but simply because he craved the rush of control. To prevent this catastrophe, our scientist transported us to their world, to a remote area. We were in the middle of nowhere, with no sign of the psycho villain. But we knew he was out there, waiting for us. Watching us. The day’s perfect facade shattered as the sun dipped out of sight, replaced by an eerie chill and ominous clouds. A scream ripped through the air, echoing from the depths of the forest to our right. What the-? One of the agents stepped forward to investigate. “No!” I wanted to yell, “It’s a setup!”, but I was too late. A hurricane-force storm closed in on us, sending our legs to run fast toward the street on the left. Exhaustion mounted with each heart-stopping step, yet I couldn’t shake the question of why he was chasing us. If he wanted us dead by now, he would’ve done it already. It wasn’t until I remembered the new agent, whose shady past now seemed inextricably linked to our desperate situation, that the sinister plot began to unravel. Who is she? Her eyes locked onto mine. I saw fear, desperation, and helplessness staring back at me. That’s when I realized: he’s after her! I grabbed her hand, making random turns to throw him off our trail. It was just the two of us now. Adrenaline coursed through my veins as we ducked into a corner of an abandoned building. We waited, the silence deafening. Then, a static noise crackled to life in my earpiece. Our scientist’s voice was laced with urgency: “He’s got them… everyone… the building!” Then, the line went dead. I turned to the girl, searching for answers. She revealed that she was from the same parallel universe and the only one who could stop this psychopath. We hatched a plan. From what we pieced together, the madman had taken our agents, hiding them in comatose states throughout the building. The same building we were standing in front of. It was a twisted game, and he wanted us to play along. We split up, searching for our agents. I stumbled upon one of the members suspended in midair, frozen and lifeless. By then, our leader had reestablished contact, guiding me on how to revive them. One by one, I found them all. But now, the girl I was supposed to protect was missing. Shit! Everyone joined the search, but the psycho had hidden her well. Just not well enough for me! I discovered her in a secret room behind a wall, deep in a coma-like sleep. Unlike the others, she didn’t respond to revival attempts. I reached out to our scientist, who told me to find a hidden control panel. I located another room within that room, featuring a display with multiple split screens. Following my leader’s instructions, I finally awakened the girl. Just as I did, the psychopath scientist walked in, and then I woke up…
