“Look at this view.” I said, ignoring him and his little triumphful dance. “It’s so different, depending on where you look.” “I knew you would like me!” Edwin said and came to me at the front of the old vegetated roof. “You’re not even listening!” I said angrily. “Of course I am!” Edwin said and put his arm around my shoulder. “You’re saying how stunning this view is and how different the sites look.” he looked at me. Suddenly, his face was very close to mine, I could feel his breath. His warm green eyes looked directly into mine. Irritated, I wrinkled my forehead. “And you see there,” he pointed with the other hand over the horizon, and looked away “there’s where we started. That’s the car park, where our bus is waiting for us.” For a moment, we just enjoyed the view for a bit. Out of a sudden, Edwin grabbed into his pocket and pulled out his phone. “Let’s do a selfie.” “But with this background.” I said and turned around. I had stopped counting how many pictures we’d already taken that day. Overall, I have to admit that we had spent a good day, even together. As it turned out, Kalamitsia didn’t only provide a gorgeous view, but also the inside was stunning to discover. Many historical details have been preserved pretty well and the light falling through the arches made the whole interior seem magical just like in a fairytale.
“Do you know what time it is?” I asked Edwin. “One moment…” he looked at his wristwatch. “It is seven past six.” “I think we should go back to the bus, or we have to walk.” I joked, not knowing that I might actually be right. “I think I know a shortcut.” Edwin said. “Oh please no shortcuts. We don’t have time for this.” “A shortcut is supposed to be quicker than the original way. You don’t trust me?” he looked at me offended. “No!” I countered. In the end, we ended up taking the shortcut, arguing about whether to take the shortcut had cost us so much time that we had no other choice than taking the shortcut. Little did we know what happy surprise we would get back at the car park. We got lost at least five times until we finally reached the car park, where the bus was supposed to wait for us. But there was no bus. I felt how my heartbeat got faster. “What time is it?” I asked Edwin nervously. Again, he looked at his wristwatch. “Thirty five.” “Thirty five what? Apples?” I asked aggressively. “No need to become aggressive. Thirty-five past six” he answered. “I don’t understand this, the bus is supposed to still be here!” I looked around to assure that we wouldn’t oversee the bus. Yes, of course Charly, you can oversee a twenty-person white tourist bus. I shook my head. “What’s wrong?” Edwin asked. “What’s wrong?! The firking bus went without us!” I yelled. And there was also no other car we could possibly ask for a drive. I pulled out my phone to see if I could call a taxi, but I had no connection. My heart stopped. “Edwin?!” “Yes?” he looked at me innocently. I pulled his left wrist to me. “You’re an idiot!” “What? Why? I thought you finally liked me.” Without responding to his statement, I held up my phone, so it almost touched his face. “It’s a quarter to nine!” I could almost see how he shrunk inside. “But how is that possible?” he asked quietly. “Well maybe some idiot forgot to change his watch from London timezone to the Greek!” frustrated, I stomped off.
