Once again, I am not going out with my friends. There is a study plan I have developed to prepare for the IELTS, and it seems I am always lagging behind on that. I have not had time to work through several more sets of similar tasks. It might have been sufficient for someone else, but definitely not for someone with English skills like mine. Every spare minute is dedicated to the test, yet it is not enough.
Morning again. I want to squeeze in some English practice before work: open the laptop, navigate to the familiar English folder, and nearly vomit. I manage to hold back this nausea, and the laptop survives this assault from my body. I continue studying.
Sometimes it is nice take textbooks and head to the lake near my house. Not that it helps me study, but it feels as if I was accomplishing two useful things at once: getting ready for the exam and enjoying the outdoors.
Close by, there are two fishermen: an adult and a child of about eight years old. The silence was interrupted by a ringing voice:
— Dad! Come on!
— Just wait.
— Come on! Come on already!
— Patience.
— I’m about to cast my line.
— Why?
— So you know what to do now! Set the hook! It will go away! It will bite and go away! Set the hook!
⠀The man reel it in. The hook turns out to be empty. The boy says quietly, “I told you it would go away.” Moments later, he screams tearfully:
— You missed the fish! You missed it!
— Well, what does that have to do with me?

Asya: The test is done! And I can say it seems to be fine 😀 There were some odd moments in the speaking part. But I believe it’s gonna be ok 😊
Kim: congrats!
