Story

“Ahhhh!” Bora screamed. She jumped around to escape the blaring light. A fun sight, the witch thought. “Would you stop making a mess?” Emilia sighed, taking off her pointy black hat. Bora seemed to realise, with a look of relief, that they were no longer in the forest and the blood Emilia smeared on her was also gone. “Oh, right, welcome to my dwelling place!” Emilia said proudly, standing amidst many books. All different sizes and colours. “We’re inside, how did you do that?” Bora asked while taking in her surroundings. The room they were in led to multiple different ones. Emilia did not miss the slime’s curiosity and swiftly opened a door that let her into a very dark and cold room. “What did you do? How did we get here? What was with that light and why would you smear blood on me?” Bora quizzed Emilia while closing the distance between the two of them. “I used a spell. That is how we got here. That light was my magic aura and the spell works on those who have my blood on them. It also heals any small wound I have and evaporates the blood. I worked really hard on it.” Emilia returned quickly. She entered the dark room, reaching to her right for her wand that she knew was there. “I obviously don’t just go slashing my hand every time I want to come in. This spell was specially made to activate the barrier and protect me,” the witch explains. She swayed it around a bit before casting, “Let there be light!” A soft red glow came from her wand, illuminating the surrounding area. She put the wand on a stand that was in the middle of the room. Now that the witch could see, she felt herself relaxing. The room was filled with all kinds of things. The walls were decorated with pentacles, suns, moons, stars and other symbols the slime didn’t seem to recognise as she wandered around. A big black cauldron stood right under the sun-stained window. “What do you think? Do you want to explore some more, Bora?” The witch took off her belt, which had many pockets, bags as well as other utensils. “Don’t call me that! I don’t need a name from you! Get me out of here! There is somewhere I need to be.” Bora screamed yet again. The witch wondered if Bora was always this angry. “Oh, well, then, I can accompany you. I happen to also be an adventurer. You would do well to take me with you. So, where are we headed to?” Emilia asked, already grinning from ear to ear, knowing the slime would refuse. “We are going nowhere. I will go alone!” Bora replied, fuming, completely out of sorts about how to handle this very peculiar witch. “Aw, don’t be like that. You need me to get out of here anyway.” Emilia retorted quickly. Bora drew two eyebrows together, raising the other in confusion. “The dryad is still out there, you know,” Emilia clarified. Bora jumped up a bit. “Oh, yeah, that’s what I wanted to ask you. What did you do to the dryad?” Bora had an angry expression. “How rude of you! I am nothing but the sweetest witch you can find here!” Emilia turned dramatically. Bora remained silent, only staring at the red-haired witch, her expression glazed with doubt. “The sun is high up so it’s almost lunchtime. You hungry yet?” Emilia tried to talk herself out of the situation. “I will eat every single thing in here if you don’t tell me what happened.” Bora threatened. The witch sighed, loose curls falling in front of her face. “It- it was just a little revenge. Nothing big.” Emilia started pulling at her curls watching them bounce back in shape. “Revenge?” Bora asked, dumbfounded. “Revenge!” Emilia repeated with more enthusiasm.
