Chapter 1: 31, October

It was a foggy fall morning, the rain from the other night was dripping down Lilly’s window. Lilly was always ready to leave for school, uts the only thing that kept her going she loved it, the cold mornings with a coffee in her hand and being the first in school. But Lilly didn’t do it all for nothing the grades are also a big part of being excited for school, holding the paper she had spent a week studying for, with a big A mark on it. It was the feeling of succeeding.

31 October

The Leafs falling the streets orange and kids dressed up as witches and monsters, Lilly focused on her book she was reading on the way to school, practicality ignoring everyone around her with the music she was listing to. A necklace gracefully and slowly being put in front of her eyes, she turned around, and it was mike the boy she most admired and loved, although he doesn’t know that she really does like him. Lilly had been helping him with school since he had been struggling. A quiet “hey” leaving Lilly’s mouth with a smile, whilst she was looking into his green eyes. “It’s for you, thank you for helping me” he said with a paper in his hand, “thanks, what’s that” Lilly pointed on the paper he was holding,

“It’s a B” miked said holding the paper up with a proud face on his face, “OMG that’s amazing, I knew you could do it”. Mike gave her a hug and lifting her up a couple inches from the ground, little did he know that she was head over heals for him. “So what are you doing today?”. Mike asked while they were walking to school, “what is there to do but stay home and watch a scary movie” Lilly said, she promised her self that she would watch a movie with her dad”well, there is a party if you want to go, well… with me. If you want, only if you wan…”he was stuttering, and before he could finish his sentence she touched him on the shoulder hoping he would take a breath. “Sure” and that the last thing Lilly said before she put her headphones back on and walked to her first class, while he stood there with a smile on this face watching her walk through the hall that was decorated with fall decor.

Lilly had just lost her mother the police say the house caught on fire because of a leak, but Lilly never believed that. After Lilly’s mothers death Lilly’s father tried to be strong for her, but Lilly always knew that he was broken inside. She had spent every day at her grave hoping for closure and that someday the truth will come out.Mike knew that too, and he failed that test on purpose, the test that got Lilly the tutoring part. He wanted her to get the tutoring to distract her from her mother’s death, as much as he could. He wanted to help, as much as he could.

31 October,7:30 pm

Lilly got a call, but she ignored it because she was getting ready for the party. After it stops ringing she turned her phone around and the person that called was saved “mom” on her phone. Lilly’s heart stopped beating for a second the music she had on stopped, everything was in slow motion. She grasped for air after a tear glanced down her cheek, the door rang, and she quickly wiped away her tear when she realized it was mike picking her up for the party.
