Story

Class ended early one day. Mrs. Stark was getting sick and tired of us, and so she let us go. She was a nice lady, Mrs. Stark. She was around 50 years old, with short gray curly hair, brown eyes and a wrinkled face. She always wore big black glasses which suited her, and a pearl necklace. She would smile at everyone and wouldn’t have any problems with anyone. Everyone loved her!

So, like I said, class ended early one day. As I walked out of class, someone grabbed me by the arm. When I saw who it was, I pulled myself out of his grip and kept walking. He followed me.

“Amy, will you just talk to me?” Chris said. He sounded concerned and guilty. And he had a damn right to be!

“Go away Chris. We are done. Go to Cassandra.” He stopped me and just blocked my way.

“You can’t mean that,” he said. His eyebrows were sweating and he looked upset. I was getting angrier by the minute.

“What do you expect me to say, Chris? You cheated on me! You kissed Cassandra!” I shouted. Everyone who was standing in the hallway stared at us.

“Can you please not shout at me? I’m trying to apologize.”

“No need, we are done. You hear me? Do-” Chris interrupted me with a kiss. I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel anything. When Chris let go, I felt tears trickling down my face. “You hurt me in the worst possible way…” I said and left.

It was true, he had hurt me. I should have known from the very beginning that Chris would eventually break my heart. Right then, a million thoughts crossed my mind: what if he never meant to; what if Cassandra was the one who made the move on him? I decided to go to his dorm room and ask him for the truth.

His dorm room number was 37, so it wasn’t that far away. I knocked on the door and patiently waited. I thought of ways we could start the conversation, but there was no need because the person who opened the door was Cassandra.

“Oh…hi,” Cassandra said. Oh, hi? Really bitch?, I thought. I walked away from her, but she called my name. I was kind of anxious to hear what she had to say.
