Story

It took them a few days, but eventually they made it to the islands of the sirens. Did Noa have any idea on how to convince them? Not really. But then again, she never really had a plan for anything. Did Jack still think this was a bad idea? Definitely. But once Noa had decided she was going to do something, there was no stopping her.

She took Morgan with her and together they paddled in a dinghy over to the islands. Noa’s ship was parked somewhere safe, as far away from the sirens as possible. At least the crew was safe and would not be attacked by sirens.

They made their way towards the thick fog that encased the little islands. Rowing past the remains of ships that had strayed from their path or got lost between the islands and had fallen victim to the sirens. Everything was eerily quiet, like something was about to happen, but nothing ever did happen. The fog got thicker and thicker the closer they got to the islands until they could not see past their own hands.

Out of nowhere they could hear singing, and as they rowed closer, they could see the silhouette of a man standing on a small boat, about to step over the railing, as he was being enchanted by the siren.

“Captain-?” Morgan began, but Noa turned around before he could finish. Her eyes widened. That was not just any man that was about to be drowned by the siren. It was Robert. What in the name of the gods was he doing here?

Before she realized what she was doing, Noa jumped up, which almost flipped the dinghy. She had ripped her coat off and had tossed her hat aside and before she had jumped straight into the water. In rapid motions she swam towards the Robert. She took a deep breath and dove deep under water, deeper and deeper.

She caught Robert’s arm and tried to rip him away from the siren. She pulled stronger and stronger, and his other arm slipped free. The siren’s head shot up and went to hiss at Noa but stopped and looked at her intrigued. But Noa did not pay them any mind. She used the second, the siren let go of Robert and wrapped her arm around his torso and swam up to the surface.

If she had looked at the siren a second longer, she would have seen the form that the siren had taken.
