The following day I was back at work feeling all fresh and ready to look into her the person who was possibly following her. I wanted to know exactly what was happening and what I could do to prove her innocence.
The first thing I was shown were the texts. They were really awful. Both of them were throwing death at each other.
I shrugged, “this doesn’t say anything. She was moving out.”
“So you think she is innocent?” Lucas asked, and I sighed, “I think we should find all the evidence needed and question everything if it doesn’t add up. Something is missing here.”
“Everything points at her okay. She called cops twice. We have a warrant of arrest for her. ”
And there was nothing. I tried to find anything and I couldn’t. After work, I went to the bar to think. Lilly gave me a hug and I kissed her cheek,” hey you, how have you been?”
“Good, but I can’t imagine how you have been. I’m so sorry. I should have stopped you or helped. I should have told you that she was stalking you also. She used to come here and look at you and leave when you do. I followed her a few times to make sure you’re okay.”
I shrugged, “you didn’t have to, I’m a cop. Besides, she told me about coming here to see me you know. And she also called and told me that she is innocent. So I’m working on proving that.”
“What?” her face changed, “you believe her?”
I shrugged, “I know I don’t know her much but…”
“Yeah you don’t know her at all. She killed her girlfriend. Stop protecting her.”
“Her ex, Lilly, and I am not protecting her.”
“I told you I followed her, she did it.”
I sighed, “Lilly I had sex with the girl, and we talked in between. If she says she is innocent then I will make sure she doesn’t go to jail for something she didn’t do.”
Lilly’s face was red, “I thought you were smart.” then she left me there. I sighed and got up, I couldn’t deal with her overprotective self. I headed back home and the smell of food called me when I was still coming off the elevator. I smiled and unlocked the door, “girl, what are you doing?”
She laughed, “hey, I’ll take your jacket.” I couldn’t help but joke about this, “if you’re applying to be my future wife you’ll win I tell you.”
She gave me a sad smile, “or I’m just showing you what I can give you incase I am proven to be innocent.” I couldn’t help myself, without thinking I kissed her. She was shocked at first, but she kissed me back, and I couldn’t be happier.
