…Their life pulled the biggest UNO reversed card ever. Givan, Anna’s father, worked as a civil engineer, and Sussana was a budget analyst. They were not ordinary civil workers; their relationship with the state’s president was so profound that it took a whole board of members of their rivals to bring them down. Although the pair were falsely accused, they still hope for closure from the government. Their downfall affected the family so much that they had to relocate to Avalon, their current home. They were framed for corrupt practices and leakage of confidential state information. This was a matter Anna would never forget.
As she moved her hands to sail Romeo and Juliet, her favorite toys, her father and an unknown man in an elegant black suit behind him caught her attention. They were on the flowery balcony in an aggressive conversation.
>>There is nothing I can do, Sir. It is an official statement from the government that you should evacuate the state’s mansion with immediate effect<<
>>What? We never did such inhumane things!<<
>>I am fulfilling my task, Sir<< The unknown man departed after breaking this devastating news to the Whites. Mr White pressed his fist against the balcony wall belligerently.
>>Darling, what happened?<< Mrs Whites interrupted.
>>That was a message from the government. We are released from our ongoing positions and kicked out of this mansion<< Mr White expressed bitterly.
>>No, no, no. This cannot be possible. But, honey, we can still afford a new house anytime<<
>>No, we cannot, Sussan; I forgot to tell you that we are also being sued for five million by the government<<
>>Are you kidding me? After all our faithful services to our native land! This is a prank, right?<<
That was the gruesome truth. Anna had eavesdropped on her parents’ conversation. Her fairy tale life was over. She observed with teary eyes as her mother dropped herself to the ground, weeping, and her father faced the wall. The walls would have broken from his ballistic punches if his fists were metal.
A few days later, Anna found herself in her late grandparents’ house, which was no match for their mansion in Washington, D.C. They needed servants to cook, clean, or family up. They overlooked these ordinary household chores, even waking the f. Sussana could not even make a proper breakfast for her ten-year-old daughter.
