Story

A Bad Deal

But then, something unexpected happened. The being’s body turned into a cloud and got sucked into Luna’s palms. The poor girl couldn’t do anything about it. When Marcy was completely inside Luna’s body, the girl’s skin started to become purple, beginning with the fingertips. “Marcy, you’ve lied to me!” she gasped in horror. Her double never wanted a body of its own, it wanted to take over hers!

“No, no, no!” the girl stuttered. She stared into the mirror and watched her face become purple.

When it did, a few candles went out and Luna’s eyes glowed yellow. She dropped to her knees and wasn’t able to move. It felt like something snapped inside her head and suddenly, everything was black. In a moment, she woke up. Luna felt a bit dizzy and tried to move her fingers. It worked! She looked around herself and saw that she was surrounded by blackness, even though it wasn’t dark. There were two large holes in front of her. They seemed to be facing the inside of Luna’s house.

“Where… am I?” she groaned. “In your head,” a voice replied. Suddenly, Marcy flew out of the shadows. Her voice echoed around. “And these are your eyes. At the moment, your body is in the house, so your eyes see what’s inside of it,” Marcy explained, pointing at the holes. Indeed, one could see a part of the mirror through them. But then, Luna remembered what happened.

“Marcy… you stole my body!” she stuttered.

“Might have,” the creature smiled.

“Give it back!”

“Can’t do. I need a body to survive, just like you!”

Marcy concentrated, and two circles of glowing hieroglyphs appeared, each around one of her wrists. She tapped a few, and Luna’s body stood up. “So, did I sort of shrink and get inside of my head?” the girl asked. “Basically. You can move and everything, but you can’t control your real body,” came the reply.

Luna soon figured out that moving in her head was like swimming. It was just like being in space, but there’s oxygen and you can’t freeze to death. Then, Marcy made the body lift its hands to its eyes and paused. She tapped a hieroglyph and fire sparks came from the palms. “I’ve been expecting more, but flight and fire aren’t that bad,” the being muttered.

Before Luna could say anything, her body shook and rose from the ground. It was hovering above the floor! “Let’s have some fun!” Marcy laughed. Again, she pressed a sign and the body flew out of the window. “How about a better view?” the creature suggested. Suddenly, a force pushed Luna through an eye and outside of her body. She was floating! The girl turned to her body and gasped. It looked like Marcy, but with yellow eyes and Luna’s clothes.
