Story

Happy end

Life went well, from the moment Marcy vanished. Luna explained everything to Nikolas and, although the story sounded completely unreal, he understood her. The school ball was fun, mostly, because Nik was with her. Someone had hacked the computer and made it play modern music, instead of a waltz. All the dancers laughed and danced to the new music. But, the teachers weren’t very happy and soon fixed the computer. After a while, Nikolas and Luna became a happy couple, who lived together in a cosy house.

Of course, sometimes, the two got in a fight, but never in a serious one. After all, they loved each other very much. When the couple had finished university, Luna became an author and Nik worked, at first, as a waiter and then, as a doctor. And on Fridays, the couple would go to a disco, or to the cinema, where they often watched scary movies with popcorn. If someone made a sudden move during a scary movie, Luna would jump up, in fright.

The girl was glad that she was free of her evil double, even though Marcy was like a sister to her. Nikolas helped Luna think of it as a good change and, after many sleepless nights, she managed to let Marcy go. Every time she remembered her double, she would sigh and hug Nik so tightly, as if it was the last time they did.

After what happened to her double, Luna was afraid of losing Nikolas, too. Even though she knew that one day, it would happen, the girl watched after his health and made sure he would be a fair person. She had found the good things she’d missed in Nik, like his love and support, which always strengthened her spirit.

And, Luna got used to the marks on her hands very soon, which didn’t bother her much, in the first place. Also, the girl was more often in a good mood, because she didn’t need to clean up or watch after Marcy.

But, sometimes, when Luna caught sight of herself in a mirror or metal object, she looked at it just for an extra minute and smiled. And sometimes, the girl wished that her reflection would smile back and say, “I’m sorry!”.
