Wild beasts tamed by man.
Bred into humans’ service.
Predator turned pet.
“Fish are friends not food.”
Endless circles in cold bowls.
Golden scales shimmer.
Canary bird sings,
Wings to flutter not to fly.
Cages made of steel.
Fake plant habitats,
Poison extracted from fangs.
Tongue flicks and hits glass.
Bunnies with soft fur,
Easter presents for children,
Forgotten next week.
Striped cat purrs loudly,
The huntress grows lethargic.
Prey comes from tin cans.
“Dogs are man’s best friend!”
Obey their masters’ orders.
How do we treat friends?
Life in tiny pens.
Force fed antibiotics,
Cows are merely meat.
Always on display.
Gentle giants held captive.
Where is Africa?
