Story
Tucson, Arizona USA 2019

It was a walk in the park. The last stop, that is. The park had a pond, and we watched the ducks and talked about what we’d do if we were different famous celebrities. We walked and talked for 2 hours, and then we sat on a bench in silence. But it wasn’t an awkward silence or a silence that needed to be filled. It was a silence that brought us together and connected us. It was a silence that needed to be empty. Two souls sitting on a bench in a park. It was perfect. Until a wasp came along, and we had to leave.

Quentin drove me home, but I didn’t want the date to end, so I invited her in. She said she could only stay a while since she had to meet a client by 6. I never really had guests over, so I wasn’t sure what exactly to do. So we had a drink and watched a movie. Mid-movie, she left to use the bathroom. While watching, she’d occasionally brush my thighs. Maybe it was an accident, or maybe it was completely intentional. I wished she were more forward with me because I didn’t have the balls to do or start anything if she didn’t do it first. But maybe she also wanted me to be more forward. Why couldn’t I read minds?

I decided to scooch closer to where she was sitting and sit in a more relaxed manner which would spread my thighs a bit more. But not too much that she’d notice. She came back a couple of minutes later and sat a bit further from me, crossing her legs. I played the movie and waited to see if she’d do anything again. But no. She kept her hands to herself. I eventually slouched my way back to an upright position since she seemed fully invested in the movie. I, on the other hand, couldn’t concentrate. This was like the texting situation. She started texting, so I just expected her to continue being the first person to text me, but she was hoping I’d start texting her first too. So it was the same, right? She started caressing my thighs and maybe now she was hoping I’d do something too? Or maybe she wasn’t and it was an accident. She sat further away from me. What did it all mean?

Then she stretched her hand out on top of the couch behind my head and a whiff of her perfume entered my nose. The only thought in my head was, Fuck this.

I sat right up to her and when she turned to look at me, I kissed her, grabbing her entire glossy bottom lip between my lips. When I pulled away she had a slight smirk on her face. And then she kissed me back, again and again and again. And then an alarm went off. It was her phone alarm that she’d set so she’d make it to her client on time.

“I’ve got to go, but it took you long enough”, she said with a slight smile.

“I wasn’t sure if you’d want me to kiss you or not.”

“I’ve wanted to kiss you since I first saw you.”

I blushed. She put on her shoes as I saw her off.

“I’ll text you later.” And then she got into her G and drove off. I have been elated since that happened. And she did text me. A good night message.

How am I supposed to sleep?
