Story

“I’m happy you found me.”

“Daisy did.”

“Thank you, Daisy.”

“I’m sorry I haven’t been to school. I’ve been ill.”

“How are you feeling now?”

“Much better now that you’re here.”

“Do you have a cold?”

“The doctors don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

When he sees worry cross over Flora’s face, he quickly adds:

”But it’s nothing serious.”

“You’re probably just special. That’s why it takes longer for them to figure out… Is there anything you need? I should get home or my parents will wonder where I am, but I could come back tomorrow and bring you something.”

Peter thinks about this for a minute. Picking the right sweet out of so many options isn’t an easy feat.

“I would love a Mars bar… And a flower you pass on your way here.”

“See you tomorrow.”

Flora leaves with a spring in her step, and Peter has a smile on his face as he looks after her.

When Flora gets home, she lies on her bed and looks up at the sky above her. She and Charly would look through that window together and dream of one day seeing the universe up close. Charly wanted to be an astronaut and he said he needed Flora by his side or he would never achieve his goal. Flora hopes that he can see the stars from where he is now. She wonders what Peter is doing. Maybe he is looking at the sky, too.
