Footprints in the snow

by Fernanda Ordorica

Tell me,

before the snow melts our footprints

and all that is left is my memory,

were we here together

or did I dream it all?

…

Why did you not answer me?

Our footprints have melted in the snow.

I have forgotten where they were.

Did we stand together?

Did we stand apart?

No trace of where we once were.

…

Were we even here at all?

It could have been all in my head.

It would not surprise me

because I am always living in it,

but I remember it so well.

I remember you so vividly.

…

Our chapter came to an end so fast

I swear our story was the length of a song.

It does not matter anymore

because our ship has sailed,

my mind has cleared,

and our footprints have melted in the snow.
