I’m bouncing on my feet a little, excited to finally reach the funfair. Nat chuckles next to me and I can feel her eyes watching me as I almost skip towards the entrance. “Excited?” She asks and I turn to look at her with a grin and nod.“ I always wanted to go to a funfair with my girlfriend.” I tell her and stop to skip, so she can catch up to me. “Good thing we’re going then.” She chuckles a little and takes my hand, intertwining our fingers together and I nod with a huge grin. I tug her towards the entrance and can already smell the popcorn, cotton candy and other sweets they sell here. My eyes grow big when we enter the funfair and I feel like a child again. There is so much to see and I squeal when I see the roller coaster they put up. I point to it. Nat looks it up and down and frowns a little bit. I squeeze her hand and she turns to me. “It’s gonna be okay, we are safe on there, nothing will happen.” I assure her and she nods, taking a breath. Around five minutes later, she fidgets a little with her fingers as we sit in the little train, waiting for the roller coaster to start. I put my hand over hers and she looks up at me. I give her a reassuring smile. She still looks scared but as soon as we drive up and drop, taking the first curve, she exclaims how much fun it is. I laugh at her sudden mood change but am happy she isn’t scared anymore. We scream at the next drop and laugh when we go into another curve. When we eventually come to a halt again, Nat seems very happy. I laugh at her hair that got messed up a bit by the wind and when we are off of the roller coaster, I gently comb my hand through it to tame it a little.“That was so much fun!” She says excitedly and hugs me before giving me a kiss that I return. I can feel her grinning into it before she pulls away and her eyes shine with happiness. The next stop is the ghost train and I sigh when we approach it. “You’re safe with me.” Nat promises and smiles reassuringly at me. We buy the tickets and get in line. When we get into the cart, Nat puts her arm around me, pulling me closer to her and kissing my hair in reassurance. I lean against her and grab her free hand to hold onto it as we roll into the darkness. At first it isn’t as scary as I expected but after the next curve, a person suddenly jumps out of the darkness and I let out a scream and jump. Nat holds me tighter, not seeming very scared but protecting me and I can tell by her glare that if the other person approaches us, she would tell them off. Still scared I smile a little at her cute reaction. The ride ends after a few more jump scares and I am happy to get out of the cart. “Why did they have to scare us that often?” I whine while she puts an arm around me, slowly walking away from the ghost train. “Because it’s fun. For some people.” She adds with a chuckle. “But you did great, thank you for coming with me, baby.” I groan a little but smile and wrap my arm around her as well. We spend some time at different booths, trying different games and laugh. It’s a lot of fun and every once in a while, we steal little kisses and I feel nothing but happiness.
