Growing up

“When you grow up, your heart dies” (-Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club)

I guess she was right,

when she said that your heart dies,

when you grow up.

I always felt like adults where heartless anyways

Like they lost it on their way.

Maybe that’s why it’s so painful

growing up,

i mean

Maybe it’s just the very long,

and painful way

of your heart dying right in your chest.

Not that it would stop beating, no.

It just fades into a state of not existing

Until the only thing that is left

is just empty space

and flesh.

That’s probably why growing up hurts that much

it’s just the feeling of your heart

rotting inside of you.
