Human mockery

Story

You turn it on, you turn it off, all the time as you want. One light switch, my heart is going back and forth, I am searching for something human in this disguised machinery like the one I’ve fallen for.

Opened my eyes, looking into yours who once drew me in, now everything about you caught me off guard.

Fighting, tossing out slurs, words once so comforting came back in reverse. So convert it into something my human heart can process, unpack it and finally confess.

Unlike RAM, I remember all the shit born of the bits and bytes of manipulation you’d do. Only a few pixels are missing until the image of what happened is shown.

Like cat and mouse, there is always one to be chased. In your simulation, the cat is destined to be the prey. You, the smaller person of us, take on the role of the mouse and, with a few clicks, you lead the outcome of the game.

Copy and paste me.

Copy and paste me.

Sooner or later you will face it.

When her pretty face is reminding you of mine, conversely, so pity

Because yours lacks any emotion at all.

Call it love, hack it until it’s not any more what it truly was.

However, I will not forgive or forget, and I will always recall this thing between us as an algorithm, the programmed kind of one.

Updated, I am. Better than ever, I sense the misery back when we uploaded our hearts for the other one to own. Fake like the data changed, blurring my view of you, I put on a play you can’t see through. I’ll beat you at your own game, playing according to my rules. The woman who loved you can copy and paste, too.

Suddenly, the screen is black and my lies are so white. Tonight I will scream as much as my lungs can bear and your system dies. Minutes and hours blur in time, typing on keyboards, the final goodbye. I’m floading in dreams of liberty, I pull the plug solemnly.

I go and shatter the screen, glass memories in the air, they cut so deep. Closure, a sudden rush I feel. My body full of adrenaline and my mind so clear, a blank document awaiting a new start, in my human heart.

All you are and all you’ll become is human mockery, caged in its own machinery.
