Story

It’s already 2 in the morning, I can’t feel my legs from dancing the whole night. My friend will soon be leaving for a year. We have to get all the party in we can.

My favourite song is playing, we scream the lyrics at the top of our lungs, everything feels so insignificant at this moment, just us having fun. That’s where you swoop in. You take my hand and pull me towards you. I feel weird abandoning my friend, so I pull away. Yet I can’t shake this sudden need to be close to you.

You never asked for my name, didn’t ask where I’m from, you just continued watching and smiling.

We lose sight of each other but throughout the night our gazes lock. You never lose your smile. You’re having fun, your eyes shining bright. Your breathtaking blue eyes.

The end of the night rolls around. We’re all leaving. You see me standing at the bottom of the stairs, and you shout “you’re really beautiful!”

I say thank you with a big smile.

You complain that I didn’t dance with you “next time”, you say with pure confidence. I tell you a gentleman invites the girl to dinner first.

We both laughed and as I was trying to leave to get to my car I feel a hand pulling me back. “Will you go to dinner with me?” you say. Standing so close, I can feel your breath on my face.

It’s like the rest of the world does not exist at the moment, it’s just us.

We look into each other’s eyes and I feel a flutter in my stomach. “Yes” I whisper, without losing eye contact, you pull out your phone for me to put my number in. I chuckle while doing so.

I try to pull away, but you pull me closer, putting my hair behind my ear “You were the prettiest girl tonight”. I blush and look at you, you look down and smile softly. You lean down, I hold my breath in anticipation, you kiss my cheek. “I’ll see you at dinner” you say lowly. I nod, not having the courage to speak since I feel like my voice would betray me.

Suddenly, I’m pulled away. “Come on now we have to leave!” my friend tells me, and she’s right, we do have to go. By now it is 5 in the morning and I have work tomorrow, so we leave. I look back once more, smile and wave at you. While you’re standing there looking just as enticing as you did this whole night.
