Late nights

Story

It’s dark and cold. Our breaths leave little clouds in the air. But nothing of this matters.

We are walking down a street while holding hands. Even though we’re both wearing gloves, I feel like I can feel the warmth of Nat’s hand in mine. It’s almost silent, there are just a few cars and people on the streets now. None of us knows how late it is, but it doesn’t matter because no clock in this world could ever show how precious our time is when we spend it together. I can’t help but to look at her. Wrapped up in her scarf and hat, her jacket fully zipped up to keep her warm. It’s so cute when she’s fully packed in her clothes. She freezes pretty fast and it’s adorable. Every morning when we have to get up, her head looks out of the huge blanket as if she needs to check the temperature. I always get up first, close the window and turn on the heater. It takes a little while until the room warms up, so I go back to bed and let her cuddle into me. I know it makes her feel safe when her head rests on my chest and she can listen to my heartbeat. It’s hard not to fall asleep while we cuddle because she feels like a warm safety-blanket for me. But we manage to get up as soon as it’s warm enough.I know she is currently wearing my hoodie because she insists that mine are warmer than hers. I know it’s not true, but I love seeing her in my clothes. We reach our destination. It’s a park full of lights. There are shapes out of light chains and projectors are creating beautiful designs on the ground, trees and buildings. Her eyes light up with excitement and my heart immediately melts, seeing her like this. She pulls me towards the light and we walk around the beautiful park. We walk beneath a huge ball out of light and her eyes reflect all of the little sparkles. I smile as I spot a mistletoe hanging from the top. She follows my eyes and turns around to face me. “I guess we have to kiss now.” She mumbles into her scarf. “I guess we do.” I reply softly and place my one hand on her hip while I push down the scarf a little. We lock eyes before our lips join and my second hand goes down to her hip too. Her hands are buried in my hair. I can taste the hot chocolate we had half an hour ago on the Christmas market. She tastes so sweet and I wish I had to never let go of her. A warm shiver runs through my body as her tongue touches my lips and I let her in. It’s a deep, slow and passionate kiss. We let go of each other when something cold touches our faces. I open my eyes to see that it started snowing. Her eyes widen and she runs out of the light ball to look up at the sky. I follow her and grab her hand as she catches a snowflake on her tongue. She is the most adorable and stunning girl I’ve ever seen and I am so glad to call her mine. “This is perfect.” I whisper. “Yes, it is.” She turns around and hugs me tightly.I hold her close and smile happily. She is all I ever wanted.
