Ted Lasso.
When I think about small acts of kindness that’s who I think of. My hero. When I grow up, I want to be Ted Lasso. Have you ever witnessed such a beautifully kind, inspiring, and genuine person? That’s Ted.
While they’re working to push for extraordinary wins, each character is doubted. But in each journey, those characters embrace an ordinary, yet beautiful life, filled with the little glorious moments of human connection and friendship.
Showcasing the power of self-reflection, forgiveness, and personal development in finding purpose. They’re working to achieve something extraordinary, but what brings them to work every day? Each other. It’s the extraordinary joy of friendship and kindness that inspires them.
In our pursuit of ambition and greatness, we don’t realise that it is often driven by the desire for recognition, success, and validation. Does that not undermine the pursuit? Does that not reduce its nobility? Is it for the right reason?
Once you fulfil that goal, there’s no question that you feel satisfied, but was the anticipation to fulfil that goal not more satisfying than the final destination itself? When you book a holiday, you spend your time excited about it, you plan your shopping lists, your to-pack lists, and you picture yourself on the beach. This dream world we create in our minds sometimes overpowers reality. The anticipation is what makes it exciting. Cliché, but it truly is the journey and not the destination.
The extraordinary resides within the kindness we extend, the connections we foster, the growth we undergo, and the joy we share with friends. Ted’s personal growth influences the people and team around him. We can shape our world with one compassionate gesture at a time; the ripple effect of simple acts. The butterfly effect.
Ted teaches us that heroism isn’t always found in the grand gestures but in the authenticity of our interactions, the vulnerability of our growth, and the richness of the relationships we nurture. So you don’t not pursue the extraordinary, but you pursue it knowing that the ordinary moments along the way are what makes it extraordinary.
