Living Fully on the Edge

Story

‘If you’re always trying to be normal you’ll never know how amazing you can be.’

But if you’re always trying to be amazing, you forget to appreciate how much of a gift normal is; its quiet magnificence.

Embrace ordinary, but break the cycle of the ordinary, and don’t try to think too hard about being extraordinary. It all feels a bit contradictory.

So we embrace the balance. We embrace living fully on the edge. Transcend your norms without losing sight of the simple joys. Don’t allow the fear of failing to be extraordinary paralyse you and pull you back off the edge of possibility. Don’t plunge headlong into the pursuit of the extraordinary so far that you can only derive your self-worth and success from work and empty promises of approval.

Embrace living fully on the edge. It’s a great vantage point. To truly live fully on the edge is to unapologetically explore your passions and dreams, to strike the balance of accepting who and where you are with the determination to always improve.

It’s grounding yourself in the simplicity of life’s everyday rhythm. It’s to be aware of the fleeting nature of time. Striving for excellence need not eclipse the value of simplicity.

Sure, don’t let life happen to you; don’t relinquish control. Focus and cherish the important things; your mind, your family, your body, your dreams, your passions, your beliefs, and what you love. Put aside the what-ifs, news, and clickbait.

Integrate both the extraordinary and ordinary into a fulfilling life. And maybe somehow by simply accepting, welcoming, and relishing in your ordinary, you take a break from fighting so hard, that you find your version of extraordinary. You find that you’re already living fully on the edge of extraordinary and ordinary.
