Lokal gossip joint

Story
Newsstand

The wooden framework of the stand,
When ink meets paper in high demand.
Every morning they walk by,
Steaming hot their matcha chai.
Just have a look at the headline,
Deciding which read shall now be mine.

Between global news or local tale,
For everyone’s liking, something is avail.
The hand glides over the magazines’ glow,
Finding Hollywood’s news in the top row.
Opening it up and just flipping through,
Looking for stories which are new.

The new headlines in a paper fold,
What’s going on in our world let us be told.
Both joy and sorrow can be caught,
In all countries near and abroad.
So read it careful and expect,
Give yourself some time and reflect.

It is one’s favourite meeting point,
It is the village’s gossip joint.
No matter your age, young or old,
A little chatter is always told.
And the best way to defy bad weather.
It is just by having a little chat together.

The newest gossip you find here.
The “Did you notice?”, “Did you know?” and “Did you hear?”
The newsstand lady she will know,
Whispers under her breath so low.
No secret will stay undetected,
The rumours spread, because she’s just too well-connected.

Every scandal will make its way.
Into conversations of the day.
The truth is hidden, but it’s near,
Finding its way into an eager ear.
And no matter how unbelievable it may sound,
To add on even more, is always found.

It’s not only gossip you’d get here,
You also connect with the ones you hold dear.
It’s the community you keep close to your heart,
In a world that lets people easily drive apart.
