Story

My lover, I miss you

I shall never miss him because I still see him in th light gray clouds after short storms.

I shall never miss him because I can still smell his scent in the ocean after rain.

I shall never miss him because I can still hear him in the songs of the birds, early in the morning.

I shall never miss him because I can still taste him in the unsweetened tea I have every night.

I shall never miss him because I can still feel him when my fingertips brush over old books.

I shall never miss him because he never existed.

Still, he’s everywhere.

In the trees at midnight, in the fire ashes, in the dust on my candles, in the shining eyes of laughing people, in the lucky tears of a freshly married couple, in the cobblestones on my way home, in the color of the mirror on my wardrobe.

But I do, I miss my lover.
