Old friend

Story

There you are.

I thought of you just yesterday,

thought of the good old times,

thought about what you might be doing now.

All the great memories we made!

I mourned a little,

wept for these days back then,

when we were so close and didn’t think

we would be separated, ever.

How naïve.

I still love you, I still care for you,

we are no longer friends,

two parted roads after years of friendship.

There was a time once when you were

the only one who truly knew me,

my thoughts, my dreams,

and now, we know nothing about each other,

except the memories we have in our minds

and still, you are a part of me,

you are my childhood.

I look back, and I grieve for what I have lost,

but I know the memory

will always be a part of who I have become,

because our paths crossed

and even for a little while,

it was the best thing in the world.

It is just that

not every path is meant to go on forever,

some are just there to teach us something

and once they’re done, we separate.

The only thing we can do is

to be thankful and

cherish the memories we have.
