Story

Taste

She shakes her head with a silent smile while he piles more and more peanut butter on this toast. What? I love peanut butter toast! You’re sure there is some toast under that mountain of sugar? Just enough so I can lift this lovely creation of nutrients into my mouth.

He grins from one ear to the other, slightly bouncing on his chair with anticipation. Now she can’t help but laugh out loud, the sound enveloping him like the golden light of a sunset.

And they sit in this light until dusk comes.

Announce

She wonders if she should tell someone. Her life has changed, her mind is racing, and everything she ever knew seems to be forgotten. So, shouldn’t she inform someone that the world has changed? That up is down and down is sideways, and all the colors are bright?

She turns on the spot, gazing at the lush green of the trees and the vibrant blue of the sky. People turn when her smiles turn into bubbling laughter. All they see is the grayness of the city, like every day.
