If a chapel has been blessed or, like our chapel, even consecrated, there is a responsibility towards the parish of Fehring. Events may only be held there with their permission.
If a chapel is abandoned, care must be taken to ensure that objects used for religious services are secured and, if possible, reused elsewhere.
The Fehring parish church – first documented in 1305 – is the oldest in our district. The parishes of Hatzendorf, Kapfenstein, St. Anna am Aigen and Unterlamm are assigned to it.
The parish of Fehring include:
– the Benefice St. John the Baptist (Bertholdstein Castle)
– Maria Loreto Chapel in Hohenbrugg Castle
– Chapel St. Florian in Schiefer
– Mass chapel St. Trinity in Schiefer
– Chapel St. Joseph in Petersdorf
– Chapel Sebastian and Fabian in Petzelsdorf
– Chapel St. Mary in Pertlstein
The region of south-east Styria with the pastoral areas of Fehring, Feldbach, Mureck and the south-east Styrian hill region is one of 8 regions of the Graz-Seckau diocese. In 2021, the deaneries were dissolved and the parishes were assigned to the newly created pastoral areas and regions.
Smash hit by Elvis Presley from the 1960s:

Take your troubles to the chapel
Get down on your knees and pray
Your burdens will be lighter
And you’ll surely find the way
