Kyiv is my native and beloved city and I love its houses, parks, architecture and the spirit of the city itself. But there are places in it that I especially love. In this story, I will tell you about Podil, my favorite area. Its highlights are the metro stations Kontraktova Square and Postal Square and the route between them. Podil is beautiful in all seasons and I will try to describe each one to you. Winter. There is a Christmas tree on the square, a New Year’s market opens, where gingerbread, mulled wine and street food are sold. People come to the skating ring and have fun. There is a festive atmosphere around, everyone is enjoying life and you involuntarily begin to rejoice in yourself. There is something magical about this place. Cafes and restaurants are lit with bright garlands, there are themed sculptures on the street and you can see all this beauty from the Ferris wheel. I will never get tired of walking along Podil. Spring. It’s warm outside, but not hot yet. This is quite an old and green area, where there are a lot of trees, and when they bloom, the air becomes sweet and fresh, life itself is felt in it. On a sunny day, you can always find a bench in the shade in the wide alleys, or sit down in one of the hundreds of themed cafes on the terrace and enjoy watching the bustle of the city. One of my favorite routes is to go down the Landscape Alley along Andreevsky Descent, go to the Alley of Artists, admire the paintings and views of the Dnipro River from the hill. They are so beautiful and breathtaking. Summer. This is my favorite time of the year. Podil is full of life around the clock in the summer. This place does not sleep in summer. I have seen sunrises and sunsets so many times there. Until midnight, street musicians play hits of popular artists, and the audience dances and sings along. Postal Square, dormant in winter, comes to life, where people flock from everywhere to ride a boat, take a walk on the embankment by the river, eat street food and dance. Or walk along the Pedestrian bridge to Trukhanov Island. There is nothing more beautiful than taking a dip in warm water and sitting on the beach watching the sunset in Podil. This beach is the only beach in the city center, so it is unique. Autumn. This is a great time to take the 12th tram and ride the longest tram route in Kyiv to Pushcha Voditsa, go to the forest for mushrooms or just enjoy the colorful scenery in the forest near the lake. Podil is covered in autumn with a blanket of yellow, red and orange leaves. Dullness and dampness evoke depression, but at the same time give comfort. People go to the Shokoladnitsa to drink hot tea or cocoa and warm up.
