You there, I here. We only meet in the virtual sphere.

A connection only felt through the screen. Man, sometimes life can be mean.

The days start with a quick text or call, at night our eyes are about to fall.

Hours spent without hearing from each other, at night we ask “How is your mother?”

Yet we know nothing about our lives, nothing about our joys and strives.

Worrying and jealousy spread like a heavy fog. Still, we promise to be loyal like a dog.

Desperately trying to stay busy, to not get lost or dizzy

in the abyss of endless yearning, while one heart is always burning.

“It’s God’s plan, things happen for a reason,” we tell ourselves to accept life’s treason.

One hopes, while the other loves more, promising to be the key to the other’s door.

We share wisdoms and words of encouragement, or end up fighting because of time management.

Strangers spend more time with us, makes one wonder if all of this is just.

We are constantly on borrowed time, I am never yours and you’re never mine.

Yet the worst part of all will always be that having a partner would leave one so lonely.

That one carries so much love for someone miles away, and uncertain is the reunion day.

People might ask why one would go through such a thing, wonder if happiness it will bring.

That unfortunately, I don’t know, all I know is that I’d rather stay than go.

Life turns out to be like a sandbank, some days you see it, some days it’s blank.

I don’t know the purpose of this mystery, but with time it will only be our history.
