Poetry: Don’t regret, Don’t forget.

Story

Scared of making memories
Cause you still smell the scent of pictures burning
Opened your book, wish that someone would write it right
Yet afraid to read the words once the pages start turning

Scared of living moments
Cause you still smell the scent of warm skin on the sheet
Opened your heart, wish that someone would treat it right
Yet afraid to let feelings flow through your veins once your blood starts to beat

Scared of sharing insights
Cause you still smell the scent of your soul on fire
Opened your eyes, wish that someone would see you right
Yet afraid to let them get a glimpse of your deepest desire

Past disappointments cut deep, left everlasting scars that feel
Like rapid rivers of hurt running through canyons of despair, unable to heal
But it’s high tide to stop the bleeding, change perspective and leave old wounds behind
So read on and keep the following thought-provoking words in your soul’s kind mind:

You wouldn’t be today’s you without yesterday’s them
Today’s strength without yesterday’s pain
Today’s rainbow without yesterday’s rain
Today’s hit without yesterday’s miss
Today’s ability to love deeply without yesterday’s last kiss

If someone left your life, it was only to make room to discover more of your true you
So be grateful for every temporary teacher life sent your way
Everyone who’s crossing your path is a lesson to learn
And I promise that in reflective retrospection, everything will make sense one fine day

Every shared tear and painful loss will make you stronger in the end
Even if at first we may not see the reasons, nor fully understand
It’s all part of a higher power’s plan which one day we shall comprehend
Just trust that even the saddest journeys will reveal a life-changing souvenir for you, dear friend.
