smile

Story

Months passed by, one by one, feeling like an eternity yet no time at all. Days blurred into one another until finally one day, time stopped passing unconsciously. I could hear the clock ticking again, giving back meaning to the smallest things that seemed forgotten for so long.

Warmth filled my body where the coldest of deserts had quietly spread. Ruins left unbothered started to build themselves back together in new colour palettes. And finally, the smile on my lips reached my eyes again. Lightening them up as if to send a secret Morse code.

To you.

I saw you smile today and smiled to myself.
knowing your smile is medicine for me,
knowing it won’t be like that forever.
there’ll be times it’ll hurt,
there’ll be times I’ll miss it.
one day I will even forget it,
but for now,
smile and warm my heart,
I beg of you.

When I think about you, I smile. I just can’t help myself. It’s been like that years ago, and it still is. You’re someone special, and I hope you know that every second of your day. I wish for you to always be happy, that there’s nothing to worry or to be sad about and that you can enjoy your life to its fullest. And even if I’m not there to laugh with you, I hope you can laugh out loud as much as you want to.

Don’t let anything bring you down, be proud of yourself and of what you’ve achieved. Don’t think about the end, live your dreams, reach your goals and create new ones.

And never regret.

That’s what I hope for you even if I can’t have a glimpse of it in my own life. You just be happy and make people around you happy. Please don’t care about leaving me behind ’cause I’ll be okay as long as you are.
