Syny 1.1

Story

I rarely give myself credit for anything really. Because why should I? I haven’t done anything special yet. It’s all just genes so far. I am smart because my parents are smart, I am creative because my grandma is creative. I have good humour and a great sense of style because of pinterest. I have nothing achieved so for, so what should I give myself credit for?

It always bugs me when my parents or others give me credit for something. Like I am nowhere near determined, goal oriented and unshakeable. I just study because I have to, it’s all circumstantial.
Even now as I am writing this I constantly ask myself whether this is good, is it better than other’s works? Is what I am writing even interesting? Or do most people just see a clueless teenager with insignificant teenager problems? Am I even any good at writing? I won’t win anyway, so why bother, no one would choose my book anyway, because why would they if everyone is in fact better than me? Their metaphors are more profound, their words more unique, exceptional and outstanding and overall their plan of what they want to write and therefor their plot of the book is simply better than mine.
So why even try if I’m destined to fail?

Syny is a hellish creature that seems like it has crawled right out of Tartarus. It tells you you are not great enough, that everyone is better than you, that you should simply give up on your dreams and die, because why pursue your dreams, if you can’t ever be the best. There are only a few people who can call themselves ‘the best’. I am not one of them, you are neither. Social media proves me that every day. I am only one of many, I am only average. Average, a mostly bad connoted word, but why is that, isn’t the biggest part of humankind average, shouldn’t it be okay to be average?

Syny says no. Why would it be good to be like everyone else, when almost every book in western literature suggests that ‘being different’ is the key to success. Look at Tony fucking Stark, he’s not your average friendly neighbour, or Harry Potter, was he a normal as kid? No!
Maybe that is why I always loved ‘the hobbit’. It suggests that even the most common, most unwilling creature in this world can be someone of great importance to the world and its future. It shows that being normal isn’t a crime, but that normal people are needed to pursue great.
