You were a brilliant pearl against the galaxy’s black cushion
You were the curiosity of many sailors about what was beyond our sky’s curtain
I was the captain of a ship sailing towards peace
And you were the merciless sea
I got caught in your angry currentÂ
Your absence was hell’s commencement to unleash
As if an artist’s accidental spill of crimson
Had splattered across my soul’s blank canvas
I understand it was destiny’s dictation
Of an unrelenting script; an inescapable narrative
You built my character’s descriptionÂ
Your name stood in front of it like its adjectiveÂ
You were dangerously positionedÂ
On the razor’s edge of my existenceÂ
One cannot outpace the taleÂ
Spun by fate’s hand
What is written must be done
Your name was like a slur to my happiness,
A name that weighed down my tongueÂ
But if only I knew what I should have known
That you were one of misery’s chaperons
