the neighbor

Story

I never liked my neighbor, I always thought there was something wrong with him.

I tried to tell that to some people, but nobody paid any attention to me.

Everyone loved him. He got along with everyone, was kind, considerate, and never refused to help anyone who asked, a perfect man.

Besides being handsome, a detail that my friends never let me forget. He was tall, strong, and had blue eyes. His eyes were so handsome and he had such a captivating look that it was almost impossible not to be hypnotized by looking into his eyes.

But I didn’t fall for it. I always knew there was something wrong with him, I just didn’t know what.

His behavior became more and more strange as time went on. He no longer went out to work, rarely went to the market, and never received visitors, which he loved to do.

Finding this all very suspicious, I started to investigate him. I followed him whenever I could, and tried to watch him through the window, even though he almost always left the curtains closed.

One day, at exactly 4:25 in the morning, I saw him dragging a garbage bag that looked very heavy to his car. It was very dark, but I am sure that what was inside was shaped like a body.

Very worried, I went to the police to tell them what I saw. They didn’t take my report very seriously, but they still investigated my neighbor and searched his house.

The cops stayed at his house for 10 minutes, found nothing, and gave up. They went to talk to the other neighbors, and obviously they all told the police that I was paranoid.

The case was eventually dismissed and no one ever took me seriously again.

I am only here today to rub it in my neighbors’ faces that I was right. There was something wrong with that man.

A few weeks after I called the police, he broke into my house while I was sleeping. He asked me if I had told anyone about the body I saw him dragging, and when I said no, he broke my neck.

Once the police find my body buried in the abandoned lot across town, my neighbors will finally realize that I was right. I hope they find me soon, I only stayed in this world because I am dying to see the look on my neighbors’ faces when they find out that the “perfect man” is a murderer and that I was never paranoid.
