This camp is the one we planned with another group. As I already told you, it was quite fun to plan. But the camp itself was as fun as the planning meetings. We started on Friday and came back on Sunday.
So, after school, I packed my backpack and went to the train station by bus. The others were already there, and we took the next train to the village, where we planned the camp.
It was already dark when we arrived at the train station. The house was on a hill, and we had to walk the whole way. The luggage of the leaders had already been brought to the hut, so the walk was pretty easy to do for us. But the kids still had their backpacks, so it was crazy hard to do for them.
Also, because it was dark, they slipped on the wet stones and roots in the wood. When we finally arrived at the house, it was late at night and everyone was cold. At least, the house was heated, and my dad had already cooked.
After dinner, we dressed up as aliens and hid outside in the dark. As I already told you in the last chapter, the kids had to search for us and guide us to their space station.
I knew it would be cold outside before I packed my costume, but I didn’t expect it to be that cold.
I wore a robot helmet and a grey jumper and grey trousers. One reason why the kids didn’t see me for a long time. It was crazy cold. While I waited and then, they came and took me back to the house.
Later at night, when the kids were in their room and should be sleeping, the leaders met in the kitchen and discussed how to go on with the story the next day. After a short planning time, we talked about other things which were more fun to talk about. It was about 2 oÂŽclock in the morning when we went to bed.
Next morning, half past 6, we had to wake up and go down to the kitchen. Since we slept 4 hours, we got a lot of coffee. After breakfast, we started with a station run, which was an adventure itself. We had a break for lunch, and then we did the last part of the station run.
After dinner, we spent time doing the promise-ceremony outside and then the kids went to bed again. But it was the last evening and of course they didn’t.
We sang a few songs inside. My favourite scout songs. Then we sent the kids to bed.
The leaders stayed up late and went to bed about 2 oÂŽclock again.
We woke up early and left the house to get down the hill and drive back home. On the way to the train station, a boy from the other group asked me many questions. Such, like what characteristics do you like in boys? Or what kind of man do you appreciate?
So, I knew it before an older girl from the group told me that the boy was in love with me. I mean, I was 15 at the time, he was 12. I was his leader, he was a kid I had to look after. And, most important, I didn’t like him very much.
Anyway, it was a great camp, my first as a leader and one of the funniest. While I’m writing this story, I wish it had lasted forever.
